I Don't Like Cricket, I Love Ez

about

I love my wife, Ez, almost as much as I love the Big Bash cricket competition so I wrote her a song filled with references and puns as a Christmas gift. This is the 7th song released as part of my 'Love is in the Year' album and was composed on Gadigal land.

It features my mates Frances Colley on flute, Nicky Skillz on bass / lead guitar and Andy McDougall on vocal harmonies.

lyrics

The first time that I saw you
You really caught my eye
I was bowled over by your green skirt
And that beautiful smile

Ever since we helmet
You had me in a spin
We drunk together we had a ball but
I still regret leaving

Cause just like Big Bash stumps
You light up my life
And I’d like to declare my love you

In summer those Big Bash stumps
Light up the sky
But they pale in comparison to you

That time the candle burnt down
To the end of the wick
It almost set the house ablaze
But we survived it

It’s certainly a test of patience
Watching everyday
But there's no one else I’d rather be with
During life’s power play

Cause just like Big Bash stumps
You light up my life
And I’d like to declare my love you

In summer those Big Bash stumps
Light up the sky
But they pale in comparison to you
